A most unexpected complication VENI VIDI VICI does not only reproduce a human invention, but also a physical and universal reality that each one of us experiences daily. Even before humanity left their touch on the walls of the Lascaux caves with their paintings, the human beings already knew about the rhythm of the seasons and the alternation of solstices and equinoxes. This complication indicates the evolution of the solar declination and the tropical year. Eratosthenis (c. 276 B.C. – c. 194 B.C.) was the first person to demonstrate the inclination of the ecliptic over the equator and to fix its value at 23,51°, which is a figure fairly close to our modern measurement. |
